Once a year we head out for Western Kansas to explore some of our great State's more interesting landscapes. Before you know it that time will be here again, and we plan to have a blast this year visiting some new sites that have never been included on this trip. NO, you haven't been there and done that!
Those of you who participated in our previous Box of Rocks Photo Excursions or our Flint Hills Photo Excursions, know how much fun these excursions truly are.
Well, this year the Box of Rocks Photo Excursion is sure to be a real crowd pleaser for this 2-day trip.
The following is a list of sites that may be among our stops;
Coronado Heights Rock City Finney County Wildlife Preserve Mushroom Rocks Garden of Eden Castle Rock Monument Rocks Wilson Lake State Park Lincoln County Lindsborg Montezuma Wind Farm Cathedral on the Plains Big Basin and Little Basin St. Jacob's Well (And frankly, there's no telling where we might wind up)
Included in the price of this trip are:
Lunches Snacks Dinner Lodging (with breakfast) Transportation (charter bus or van(s) depending on participation), and water (it gets hot out there).
We will stay overnight somewhere in the Western part of the state.
Our schedule. We will leave Wichita around 6 a.m. on Saturday and return some time after 7 p.m. on Sunday.
We hope to have some good sunrise and sunset locations.
Members’ guest(s) or spouse qualifies for member's rate. Membership in usphotographers.com cost only $30 per year, so become a member now and save on future trips too.
Member discount is available for Wichita Area Camera Club members also.
Everyone involved in prior years have come away with a lot of photos and great memories too. We may find it necessary to alter our route depending on the time spent at each location. We try to spend as much time as necessary at each stop to satisfy the photographic desires of all involved. We will also alter our routes as necessary for weather.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
You should bring sturdy, comfortable shoes. There's walking to do if you want to see some of these areas.
It is COLD on these mornings, so you'll want to dress in layers so you can strip layers off, as the days get quite warm.
We do our best to make sure you don't have to sit in the vehicle for long stretches.If you see something that you'd like to shoot, just let us know. If we can stop, we will.
We try to make plenty of stops where you can take advantage of roadside services.
The lunch menu has not yet been determined, but it's been interesting and tasty in the past. I try to include fruits, chips and cookies for snacks.
